The World's Fittest Book
The World's Fittest Book is a Sunday Times best seller, teaching people how to "...train for anything and everything, anywhere and everywhere", with over 9 hours of audio, narrated entirely by Ross Edgley.
This was my first audiobook recording session, covering one of the main engineers at 80 Hertz studio. I was working alongside another engineer who has worked on over 700 audiobooks previously, so there was a lot of learning involved within this session, primarily workflows and the distribution of focus throughout long listening recording sessions. My main role was acting as Pro Tools Operator and runner, making sure that the main engineer that I was working with could focus solely on the script and on Ross.
As this was Ross' first audiobook voiceover, it took some brief coaching to teach him the right rhythm and flow whilst reading, however Ross picked this up and perfected it very quickly. By the end of the first session, we had covered just under a third of the book.
It was great to hear some of the stories featured first-hand, and ask my own questions on breaks. Carrying a tree for the entirety of a triathlon (or as Ross appropriately calls it, "treeathlon"), and swimming around the whole of the UK, were both amazing stories to hear about.
If you would like to listen to some of these stories for yourself, you can find the audiobook here.
